WHICH PERMANENTLIGHTING SYSTEM?

Gemstone, Trimlight and Celebright are the three names you'll be quoted. Here's what actually separates them.

CALGARY CREW · OPEN BOOKING

If you get three quotes for permanent lighting in Calgary you will likely be shown Gemstone, Trimlight and Celebright. Each dealer will tell you theirs is the best one. All three are established systems that do fundamentally the same thing: addressable LEDs in a roofline channel, controlled from an app.

**We are not currently an authorised dealer for any of them** — those conversations are ongoing as of August 2026 — which means this page has nothing to sell you and is written accordingly. When that changes, we'll say which one we install and why, plainly, on this page.

What's genuinely similar across all three

More than the sales pitches suggest. All three give you individually addressable RGB LEDs, a low-profile channel that mounts under the roofline, app control with scenes and scheduling, holiday presets, and hardware rated for Canadian winters. If someone tells you a competitor's system can't do colours or can't be scheduled, they're selling rather than informing.

What actually differs

The real differences are less exciting than the marketing and more important.

  • Channel profile and how visible the track is in daylight. This varies and it's worth looking at a real installed house in daylight, not a render.
  • The app. Interfaces differ substantially in quality. Ask for a live demo on a phone, not a screenshot.
  • Diode density and brightness per foot — affects how continuous the line looks rather than dotted.
  • Warranty terms and, critically, who honours them. A manufacturer warranty administered through a dealer who leaves the market is a warranty you can't claim.
  • Whether any feature requires an ongoing subscription. Ask directly, get it in writing.

The thing that matters more than the brand

Install quality. Every one of these systems fastens into your soffit and fascia, and every one of them causes water intrusion, blocked attic ventilation or a voided roof warranty when it's mounted badly. A good install of the third-best system will outlast a bad install of the best one, by years. Ask each bidder where exactly the channel fastens and who makes the electrical connection before you spend any time comparing diode counts.

What to ask every dealer

Regardless of brand:

  • Can I see one you installed, lit at night and unlit in daylight?
  • Who makes the electrical connection, and is it permitted?
  • Does the channel fasten into fascia, soffit, or the roof deck?
  • What's the hardware warranty, what's your workmanship warranty, and who administers each?
  • Does anything stop working if I stop paying you?
  • How long have you been a dealer for this brand?
QUESTIONS

STRAIGHT ANSWERS.

Which one do you install?

As of August 2026, we are not an authorised dealer for any of the three — those conversations are in progress. We'd rather say that than imply a relationship we don't have. When one is signed, this page will say which and why.

Is one of them clearly the best?

No, and be sceptical of anyone who says otherwise. They're competitive products at similar quality levels, and the differences that matter to you depend on your house and which app you'd rather use. The install quality is a bigger variable than the brand.

Are there cheaper systems?

There are, including consumer-grade permanent track sold direct. The differences show up in diode density, channel durability under UV and freeze-thaw, and whether there's any warranty administration at all in Canada. Cheap hardware permanently fastened to your fascia is a poor trade.

Can you service a system another company installed?

Sometimes, depending on the brand and what's wrong — and we'll look at the roofing side of a bad install regardless of who did it, because that's the part that damages the house. Ask us about your specific situation.
